Journalist Who Was Accused Of Being Racist Towards Actress SooHyun Received Death Threat

Just recently, Kjersti Flaa, a Norwegian journalist has been receiving an immense amount of criticism for asking a particular interview question to actress SooHyun that some people considered to be racist.
Even actor Ezra Miller who was also present during the interview seemed to be in discomfort upon hearing the question, causing him to step in and low key tell the journalist that her question was inappropriate.
As many people may be aware, SooHyun starred as ‘Nagini’ in the recent film ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grinedelwald’. Kjersti Flaa asked how SooHyun first got to know the Harry Potter book series. SooHyun responded by saying that a friend of her father sent her the books for her to read during her middle school years.
Kjersti Flaa then asked if SooHyun was able to speak English during that time.
Many people considered the question to be downright racist and the journalist has been receiving severe backlash from not just netizens but the South Korean media as well.
However, Kjersti Flaa recently apologized and stated that she initially wasn’t aware that such a question could be seen as ignorant as English was also not her first language as well. It definitely seems like she asked the question not out of racist attitudes but instead curiosity since she too learned English later on in her life.
In addition, threats have been made to Kjersti Flaa’s family as well.
While we could say that Kjersti Flaa may have been lacking in caution when asking questions during her interview, we can also certainly say that making threats to her and her family is not an appropriate reaction. And the same could be said for jumping to the conclusion and labelling her as racist.
As the journalist made a point, fueling the world with more hatred never solves anything but rather brings more pain for everyone. Read More : IZ*ONE vs. CLC, Fans Talk About Song That Was Originally Intended For Latter
